Ecotricity is New Zealand’s Energy Retailer of the Year!

We are super proud to announce that Ecotricity has won the 2023 Energy Retailer of The Year Award at the New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards!
The New Zealand Energy Excellence Awards are an annual event that provides an opportunity to recognise excellence and achievement across the energy sector. This is the industry's premier black-tie gala event, attended at an influencer and decision-maker level.
The awards were held at Te Pae in Christchurch on Wednesday the 30th Of August, with around 700 attendees. We were lucky enough to head down there and share the stage with some of our key partners and customers.
The Energy Retailer of the Year title went to Ecotricity because of our commitment to the planet, our industry leading voice for electric vehicles, and growth rate over the last year.
We'd like to congratulate the other 2023 winners SolarZero, Fonterra, Ecogas, Unison Networks and Transpower, Top Energy, The Lines Company, Contact Energy, and Northpower.
This is an enormous achievement for us coming into our 10th year. The team continues to grow and the work we do really does pay off.
10 Years of Ecotricity Milestones
- 2013 - Launch of Ecotricity and first customers!
- 2014 - Toitū carbonzero certification for both organisation and product
- 2015 - Pioneer Energy join Ecotricity as shareholder and renewable supplier
- 2016 - Won the Sustainable Business Network award for Community Innovation and Mega Efficiency Innovation
- 2018 - Migration to most advanced energy IT platform Robotron commences
- 2019 - Genesis Energy and Ecotricity enter into NewRenewable Partnership to accelerate decarbonisation
- 2019 - Ecotricity becomes part owned by a team of 5 Million ... including you!
- 2022 - Virtual Power Plant (VPP) trials started with home batteries.
- 2022 - Won the Sustainable Business Network Communicating for Impact award
- 2023 - Ecotricity YouTube channel promoting EVs gains 20K followers!
- 2023 - Toitū climate positive certified, the first and only energy retailer in NZ to achieve this
- 2023 - 65% of our residential and small business customers have solar installed
- 2023 - ENERGY RETAILER OF THE YEAR!
