Climate Risk Assessment
Climate Change Risk Assessment
This page outlines the climate change risks that Ecotricity may face as a result of rising global temperatures.
Background
As global temperatures continue to increase due to increasing carbon emissions, we continue to see significant impacts because of the rise in sea level. This is impacting communities and business across the world, including right here in Aotearoa. As part of the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Act 2019, the New Zealand Government will carry out the following;
• A national climate change risk assessment, every six years
• A national adaptation plan, produced two years after each risk assessment
• monitoring implementation of the national adaptation plan, to ensure accountability
Risks
The climate change risk assessment identifies risks across 5 main domains: Natural Environment, Human, Economy, Built Environment, Governance. The latest national climate change risk assessment identified 43 risks, of these risks, the below have been identified as applicable to Ecotricity.
