The advancements in renewable energy and more efficient modes of transport are coming in thick and strong.
So what happens when you combine both in one product?
Say Hello to Lightyear One.
Lightyear One has brought the wild idea of creating a fully Solar powered Electric Vehicle to life.
Although only 10 signature vehicles will be debuted in 2019 and 100 models produced by 2020, it’s a great showcase for combining renewables and transportation.
It may seem silly at first, but the ‘car that charges itself’ as Lightyear describes, has the range of 400-800 km’s.
The vehicle can last for months without charge thanks to the powerful energy generation produced by the sun and the vehicles extensive battery pack. Pretty neat right!
The innovative and solar friendly vehicle is perfect for sunny places like Hawaii and maybe NZ, but especially for those who only have on-street parking.
But there are a few 1st World catches.
If you have a covered garage at home or work, or use it extensively for long trips in winter then you’ll need to tap into the grid. Regardless, we think it’s a pretty neat concept.
